Fill it, Label it, Pack it…Easy as 1-2-3
As part of a cost-cutting and quality-assurance initiative, a pharmaceutical company called in Direct Solutions to evaluate the methods and materials they used to secure their product on pallets for shipment via tractor trailer. In addition to the evaluation, the customer also wanted us to help establish quality criteria/testing related to this packaging function that would allow them to periodically measure the consistency and integrity of the palletized loads. The task:
A contract packaging operation needed to fulfill a customer’s request for automated processing of lotion bottles. The request entailed creating an automated production line that would take empty plastic bottles from a hopper, convey them to an automated filling station for filling, then convey them through an automated labeling applicator and, finally, to an accumulation table for packing into shipping boxes.
Action steps:
This automated production line required 4 separate pieces of automated equipment from 3 different manufacturers to be integrated with conveyor to create a “turn-key” solution. The contract packager knew the project would require a partner with hands-on experience with various types of packaging equipment and the ability to integrate it to form an automated production line.
They turned to Direct Solutions for help. We brought together several of the best manufacturers in each respective equipment category and were able to install a fully functional, automated line within the client's budget and time frame to satisfy their customer’s needs.
